The Session…
If there is a specific photo-style you have in mind, please let me know right away so I can make sure it will be included in your session. I will try to capture it right away, while you and/or your children are excited for the session and not tired-out.
Please remember that you hired me to photograph your family, so please refrain from bringing any cameras or other recording devices to the session. This may cause confusions and wandering eyes in my photos.
If you choose to have a session at your house, I will need space to hang my back drops and a place to plug in studio lighting. Also, please have everything prepared when I get there so we can start right away.
Each session normally consists of a one-hour time frame, unless it’s a newborn session, which can last close to four-hours. The sleepier your baby is, the faster the session will go. Sleeping newborns make the best pictures; mothers with newborns know why.
Your session fee will be due on the day you book your session. This fee holds your place on my calendar and if it’s not paid on this day, your spot may be given to someone else.
I usually book two to three weeks in advance, so please plan accordingly.
The Proofs… (NOTE: New website coming soon, currently you view your session proofs on my blog)
I hand edit each image, so depending on your session, you will be able to view your proofs within two weeks. I make contact with you once your proofs are ready to view. You will receive a personal login code, to view them privately. If there are certain adjustments you would like for me to make on the images, please let me know as soon as possible. I may sometimes be able to swap faces, or bodies from one photo to another, if one person is looking away, or making an unusual face. These are your photos, so I will do what I can to make them look exactly how you want. Your images will be online for thirty days, so you have a chance to place orders. If you have not ordered within these thirty days, there will be a $30 charge to repost them. In many cases, I will post a preview of your pictures on my blog, which is a nice way to view some of your images before your proofs are ready. Depending on your type of session, each session will have 15 to 40 prints to choose from.
Prints…
Please allow two to three weeks for your prints to be delivered. Express shipping is available for an additional cost of $30. If you would like your pictures sent directly to your home, so you don’t have to pick them up, there is an additional cost of $15.
The CD…
You may choose to purchase a CD of all your images with a print release, so you may print them at your personal printing center. Just please note, I only put your edited pictures on your CD; no raw photos will be on your CD. I do not want to advertise anything that I am not proud of, which is why I do not want to place images that simply "did not turn out," on your CD.
What to wear…
Just remember, simplicity is best. If you have a number of family members being photographed, you do not have to go with the all white theme. Texture and color are more "in" these days, as well as visually enhancing a great photo. I usually recommend picking one or two colors and having a little of that on each person. Please keep in mind that stripes, logos, and words can be very distracting in a photograph. I want you to have a timeless photograph that you can treasure for years. With that said, you are welcome to bring a change of clothing, but please keep it down to a couple outfit changes per session, especially if it’s a baby, since they will get tired of changing outfits, and crying pictures are no fun.
Hats and babies are always a cute combination.
Bare Feet! Yes, you read that right!
Extras…
Perhaps your child has a strong attachment to a teddy bear or blanket that you would like to include it in a photograph. If it’s simple and sweet, bring it along.
Bribes: While bribing your kids with food might sometimes help, it usually has the opposite effect. Do your best to not bring out the treats unless it is absolutely needed. Having to edit out food on their faces is a lot more work for me when I am editing your proofs and usually after they eat their snack, they only want more. The only time we will want a food item in the photo is during a birthday, or celebration. This is when we bring out the cake and your child can have fun with it.
Newborns…
The best time to schedule this session is within the first seven days of your baby’s arrival. This is when they are most sleepy, and pictures turn out the best. If you want pictures after they are two weeks old or later, I cannot promise that you will get the cute newborn poses, but as always, I will try my best.
Copyright…
I put a lot of time, energy, love, and care into your session and editing all your photos. For this reason, I take copyright infringement very seriously. Please notice that all images taken by Krista Renee Portraits are implied and protected by Federal Copyright Law. A $2,500 fine could result in illegally copying, scanning or reproducing these images by any means. This also means that Krista Renee Portraits has the right to publish any of your pictures and use them for advertising purposes. Please do not save, copy, scan or print any photos off of my Krista.renee photography Facebook page, or my blog. If you use a picture of mine on your facebook without a logo watermark on the image and you have not purchased the rights to post it (i.e. did not purchase a CD, or individual image files), you will be asked to remove the image as an initial warning and any subsequent posts of these images may call for litigation. Thanks for respecting this!
